The length of the pump shaft in the submerged part is around 800-2000mm. There is no bearing to be found between the impeller as well as the pump shell. Submersible Slurry Pump

Got A Problem With Your Submersible Pump?

One of the most common problems- When your submersible pump isn't starting!

Possible Reason One- It is possible that power is not being supplied to the submersible pump.

Check- Try placing a voltmeter across the power lines that are coming into the submersible pump. In this way, you will be able to check the power supply for the overload protection box.

Correct- If you find that there is no power to the box, then the power company should be consulted.

Possible Reason Two- It is possible that there is no overload protection.

Check- Try examining the circuit breaker as well as the fuses to the submersible pump for ensuring that they are being operated correctly.

Correct- If you find that the breaker has been tripped, then replace the blown fuses and reset it.

Possible Reason Three- It is possible that the pressure switch on the submersible pump is damaged.

Check- Try checking the voltage across the switch, keeping in mind that the submersible pump pressure switch is in a closed position. If you find that the voltage drop is at the same level as compared to the line voltage, then it is obvious that the switch isn’t making contact.

Correct- In such a case, the contact points should be cleaned. Also, the pressure switch should be replaced for the given submersible pump.

Why is your submersible pump failing?

In the world of pumping, you will often come across many manufacturers providing you a variety of pumps like submersible sewage pumps, dewatering pumps, etc. However, while telling you about themselves and their products, they hardly ever mention the possible cause of failure of their pumps.

Following is a list of reasons to a submersible pump’s failure:

1. Ignorance and wrong selection of the submersible pumps

Although this reason might sound tiny, but it is the most common reason for submersible pump failure.  Many a times customers have an ignorance towards pumps & are often ill advised in this regard. Eventually they end up buying wrong pumps. This may not only lead to wrong use of pump, but often affect the performance of the submersible pumps, eventually leading to its failure.

2. Dry running of the pump

This is 2nd most common reason for submersible pump failure. After selecting a right pump, it is also important to ensure that it is put to use for right purpose & is also equipped with basic control precautions. Taking these things for granted eventually leads to dry running of submersible pumps. What people don’t know is that the dry running of a submersible leads to heating up the motor of the pump. This causes it to fail.

3. Reverse rotation 

This failure is caused when a submersible pump is wired incorrectly. This means that the motor would run backwards. In case this happens, a very less amount of water gets pumped. Moreover, this seriously damages the pump. It also polishes the impeller which further leads to cavitation.

4. Cable Damage

This is another common reason for submersible pump failure. More often than not, cable is most ignored part of the pump. Mishandling of pump can cause internal or external damage to cable. If the cable has been yanked or gashed, then it should immediately be checked. One should always ensure that there is no undue stress on cable during it handling or fitment. The seal arrangement where the cable is entering the pump’s body, is a weak spot, even just a few drops of moisture can successfully lead to the pump’s failure.
